Day 40

My teeth have already started moving a little bit. I am a little worried only because two of my teeth don't have brackets on them, but I have an appointment on Wednesday so I should be fine. Without the splint to keep things in place, the gap has been recreated by the little spring on the left side. The right side spring was held in place by one of the brackets that fell out, so there definitely won't be a gap created. The gap is only expected, but it makes me realize my teeth ARE moving now without that support, and I am just crossing my fingers that I don't have any movement from the teeth without brackets.

I just realized today that part of the roof of my mouth is numb. I have read a little bit about this in other blogs, but I have always kind of passed through it because I didn't think mine was numb at all. After touching around with a bobby pin a little bit to figure it out, I realized the right side is numb. Did anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know how long it can take to get feeling back here, or if it can be permanent? I really hope it isn't permanent!

I am heading up to my cabin tonight and will be back Monday, so there won't be a post tomorrow. I am still going to attempt to take a picture, but we'll see.

    Hi Dani!

I just went read your entire blog and I have to say it's really awesome that you've documented the entire process. I'm having double jaw surgery as well in about 6 months so it's great to see someone with the same issues corrected (my lips don't meet at rest, 9mm gap, and my lower jaw is deficient). Anyway, your results are amazing! About your lips still not meeting at rest, that may not change. It's actually ideal for their to be a small gap up to 3-4 mm, especially in woman. As long as when you close your lips there's no facial strain, it's normal.

Btw here's my before pic and after prediction, our before pics look very similar don't they?

Dani I really love your hair length at the moment! I think I want to grow my hair out again! do you have layers, or is it just shaped around the sides? It looks great and really suits you and your new profile :) Enjoy your 4th July weekend! x

Rob, it's interesting to hear that it's ideal for there to be a 3-4 mm gap between lips in women. I have never heard that before! and I agree, our before pictures are pretty similar! Are you planning on keeping a blog when you get closer to surgery?

Rhianna, I want my hair to grow more! I feel like it's stuck where it's at. I have layers that I am trying to get rid of, but it's more just framed around my face.

    Dani,

I shouldn't have said ideal, I meant up to 4mm is considered in the normal range and its more acceptable for women aesthetically. Obviously most people w/out jaw problems have their lips closed at rest.

I am thinking about creating a blog soon, once i see my surgeon about some concerns I have I'll probably start blogging.
