Jen, thank you so much! It's taking me much longer to get used to than I had originally thought, but I am getting there.

oh my gosh the direct comparrison is absolutely mind blowing! because I get used to the new look so quickly and I think I started to forget what you looked like before! It's amazing you look so unbelievably beautiful:) and your nose looks so cute!! I didn't realise that the sort of surgery you had changed your nose, it looks adorable! xoxo

Your surgery has had exactly the effect on your profile that I'm hoping I'll get from mine! It makes me so excited for my surgery when I see how pretty your new profile is! Btw, is your new facebook profile picture a post-op picture? Also I love the fact that you have a pet hedgehog! I had a look at your pics of her, she's so cute! I want one!

    One word: BALANCED!!

You look amazing. The side by side comparison really puts it into perspective. The biggest change is obviously with your profile but it is such a positive change.

I did wonder a while back how your surgery would turn out, because well...you were really pretty. It is scary to mess with your face when you are already pretty, you know. But your result just proves that even someone who is already gorgeous can look even MORE gorgeous after surgery.

    Wow, wow, wow!!

Rosa I am the same way. I always forget what people used to look like! I think my before pictures are pretty brutal, I obviously never held my face in that way, I always pulled my jaw forward and definitely never bit down and just my mouth sit open like that. But it's what it really was, so it does look like a huge change!

Sarah my fb picture is really old actually, it's from like 2 years ago. I think it may be hard to tell in some photos once I start looking more normal, because before I pulled my jaw forward in photos so it might have a similar effect to the way I look now. Haha my hedgehog is so so cute and so sweet!

Tina, thank you! Gosh, I SO badly want to start feeling the way everyone else is about my new look!

    Dani,
I have been following your blog for the past 2 weeks. I had a LeForte I (3 pc) and a genioplasty on June 7th (now day 16). The problem is, my mouth is still hanging open > 1 cm like in your before photos. I realize I have a stent in, but I'm really worried that I should have gotten the mandible pulled forward also. I trusted my surgeon's decision to only do the upper jaw. I see him again on Monday, and I am already considering having it redone! I will try to be patient, but I am quite discouraged. You look fabulous.

Dani, thanks for posting the side by side comparisons for us! I knew they were drastic, wow! You look wonderful. Hang in there - you will soon get used to your new look! I have read it takes several months for some. Your swelling is almost completely gone from what it seems. You really look fantastic!! What has your sister decided on the genio btw?

  • Dani | June 23, 2011 at 5:57 PM

Linda, I completely understand the discouraged feeling, I have been battling it for the past few weeks as well. I am sure your surgeon knew exactly what he was doing and I am sure if he decided to only do the upper jaw, it was for the best. At Day 16 my lips were still massive and I was no where near touching my top and bottom lip, my mouth was definitely still hanging open, and the only reason it may have been semi close was because my lips were so swollen! Please don't worry too much. I have seen SO many changes for the better after Week 3. I am sure everything will work itself out!

Tara, Thank you! I think it may take several months for me to get used to everything, but I really do appreciate all of the kind words. My sister is, as far as I know, planning on doing the genio, but she's getting married in 2 months and therefore she's putting it off until right after the wedding, just in case anything bad were to happen with the surgery!

Seriously, I cannot get over these pics! Side by side, the before and after shots are incredible. I agree with BraceFaced on the balanced comment. And it gives me hope. They "messed" with your pretty face and the end result is gorgeous, too. It's proof to me that different does NOT mean bad. I give you so much credit for this. It isn't easy, and you've come out the other side with so much. Totally excited for you. You look totally gorgeous!
